Xiao Wulai Scenic Area
Located in Fuxing Town of Taoyuan County, Taiwan, Xiao Wulai Scenic Area occupies an area around 200 hectares surrounded by daedal hands of Mother Nature and famed for the enriched Atayal aboriginal culture. The name, Xiao Wulai, meaning small Wulai, comes from the Atayal aboriginal word that Wulai means springs. Xiao Wulai is sometimes confused with Wulai Scenic Area in New Taipei City as they are both famous for the precious spring and colorful Atayal aboriginal culture.
Xiao Wulai Scenic Area is consisted of abundant natural resources, geographical marvels such as Xiao Wulai Waterfall, Wind Moving Rock, as well as the recently established transparent skywalk for panoramic views of Xiao Wulai Waterfall. The mesmerizing Xiao Wulai Waterfall is a 3-tier waterfall with a height about 50 meters that offers striking sceneries, where it may best-viewed at the observation deck or the skywalk. Another marvel of the nature, Fengchueishih (Wind Moving Rock) is a gigantic 50-ton rock that seems precariously balanced without falling. The transparent skywalk is a great way to see Fengchueishih and Xiao Wulai Water in a close look. It is 24-storey tall, which allows only 50 people a time. For visitors that do not get a chance to the transparent skywalk, one may also choose to explore the scenic area through the scenic trail.
The surrounding area of Xiao Wulai Scenic Area also has a number of interesting stops to visit. As Xiao Wulai Scenic Area is at the upper reaches of the Shihmen Reservoir, one may easily savor a wide array of reservoir delicacies at the nearby restaurants. This area is also the home to the Atayal tribe, where one may experience the Atayal culture. Other nearby attractions include Cihu Mausoleum for nature sceneries and the final resting place of Chiang Kai-Shek, Dasi Old Street for traditional Taiwan snacks and famous bean curd delicacies, as well as 2 popular Taiwan theme parks: Window on China and Leofoo Theme Park t for splendid recreations and scale models of world famous architectures.
